Get Assistance Meeting the LVN Requirements

As a nationally accredited VN program, students at CDI have many financial aid options at their disposal, including FAFSA eligibility. Learn more about how you can get assistance while earning your VN license.

Federal Loans:

Loans funded by the federal government are considered federal loans, and include many benefits such as fixed interest rates and income-based repayment plans, not typically offered with private loans. Students seeking financial assistance must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Available federal loans include:

PLUS Loan:  A PLUS loan is made by the U.S. Department of Education and is available to graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students. The borrower is fully responsible for paying the interest regardless of the loan status.

Direct Subsidized Loan:  Direct Subsidized Loans are available to undergraduate students with financial need. On a subsidized loan, the U.S. Department of Education pays the interest.

Direct Unsubsidized LoanDirect Unsubsidized Loans are available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need. The borrower is fully responsible for paying the interest regardless of the loan status. Interest on unsubsidized loans accrues from the date of disbursement and continues throughout the life of the loan.

Pell Grant:  Meeting the LVN requirements is very cost effective with a Pell Grant. A federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree.

Veterans Entitled to Educational Assistance under Chapter 31 and Chapter 33: Career Development Institute, Inc. permits any covered individual* to attend and participate in program-required courses beginning on the date the individual provides the campus Financial Aid Office a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under Chapter 31 or 33 and ending on the earlier of the following dates:

The date on which payment from VA is made to the institution.

90 days after the date the institution certified tuition and fees following the receipt of the certificate of eligibility.

CDI, Inc. will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement funding from VA under Chapter 31 or 33.

Note that this policy applies to the portion of tuition and fees expected to be paid for the term under Chapter 31 or 33. Covered individuals* whose educational assistance eligibility under Chapter 31 or 33 is less than the full amount billed for tuition and required fees each term or enrollment period may be required to remit payment or make other satisfactory arrangements to pay the difference between the amount of the student’s financial obligation and the amount of the expected VA education benefit disbursement.

*For purposes of this disclosure, a covered individual is any enrolled student who is entitled to educational assistance under Chapter 31, Veteran Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, or Chapter 33, Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.

Private Loans:

If federal financial aid doesn’t cover the entire cost of your LVN requirements you still have options. A private loan is a nonfederal loan made by a lender such as a bank, credit union, state agency or educational institution. Private loans can be used to cover educational expenses beyond what is covered by federal loans. Specific eligibility requirements are outlined by each private lender and are typically credit-based.

Ask our Financial Aid Office about private loan options that may be available to you.

NSLDS Disclosure:

Please note that any federal loan borrowed by the student or parent will be submitted to the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and schools determined to be authorized users of the data system.
